Well Known Sunnyville Businessman Ainley Clyke passes away
CLYKE, Charles "Ainley" – Age 90, Sunnyville, Guysborough Co., went home to join his loving wife, Mary. God’s devoted and faithful servant was received into his graceful embrace on Thursday, August 2, 2018, in the presence of his loving family. He was the last survivor of his immediate family. Born in Sunnyville, was a son of the late Archie and Annie (Pelley) Clyke. Ainley is survived by his adopted sister, Evelyn; sons, James "Boo" (Sue), Charles, Archie (Diane) and Ivan; daughters, Theresa (Jimmy), Brenda; adopted daughter, Patsy (Mike); numerous nieces and nephews, extended families; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; special grandson, Jason and special friend, Emily.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Mary; son, Ronnie; brothers, James, Les, Gordon "Duck" and Cecil who died in infancy.
He was a self-taught, successful businessman and founder and operator of C.A. Clyke Trucking and Forestry Ltd. With little education and a great desire to work, he was successful in running the company, which at one time employed more the 50 employees until his retirement.
He cherished his company and was a man of tremendous integrity, whereas his word or handshake was as good as a signed contract. He would do anything for anyone and was committed to doing the right thing. Ainley was a strong, yet gentle man with a deep, abiding faith and left such a positive influence on all he met. The humble and religious faith he displayed throughout his life has been an inspiration to us all. He would tell you the reason behind his success is "always give a tenth of your earnings back to the Lord, and he will provide for you". This is a value he embedded in his children and grandchildren.
He will be remembered for his kind soul, great sense of humour, his willingness to help anyone, a loyal Toronto Maple Leafs fan and his fascination with anything that had an engine, especially Ford trucks.
The family would like to thank the staff of both Sea Side Manor in Canso and the Milford Haven Home for Special Care, Guysborough for their exceptional care of our dad.
Visitation will be from 1 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday in the family residence, 2096 Tompkinsville Road, Sunnyville and from 12 to 2 p.m. on Wednesday in Grace Baptist Church, Sunnyville and from where funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. with Rev. Brian Banks officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery, Guysborough.
Family flowers only please. Memorial donations may be made to Grace Baptist Church or to a charity of one’s choice. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
