COHOON, Emily Helena Anne (O’Neil, Rogers) - Port Hawkesbury formerly of Auld’s Cove age 103, passed away in Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home on Sunday, April 10, 2016. Born in Mulgrave, October 20, 1912 she was a daughter of the late Samuel J. and Catherine A. (Gillis) O’Neil and the last surviving member of her immediate family. A resident of Auld’s Cove, formerly of Mulgrave and Halifax. Survived by daughters, Mary MacAskill, Auld’s Cove; Annetta (Joe) Cripps, Fall River; Catherine (Fred) Johnson, Dartmouth; daughter-in-law, Nancy Rogers, Halifax; grandchildren, Donnie MacAskill, Rose Richardson, Emily Hartley, Allen MacAskill, Cathy MacAskill, Suzanne Stewart, Bill Cooper, Louanne Cooper, Melfred Johnson, Kenneth Johnson, Joseph Rogers, Catherine Brown and Dana Lingley, 21 great grandchildren, sister-in-law, Betty O’Neil DeCoste and many wonderful nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by only son, Joseph Vincent Rogers (2002), first husband, Joseph Rogers (1948), second husband, Lawlor Cohoon (1995); their daughter, Emily Patricia (1954) as well as siblings Molly, Bernadette, Angela, Imelda, Samuel, Anthony, Eugene, Leonard, Elmer, Ignatius, Alphonsus and Angus also by son-in-law, Allister MacAskill and grandson-in-law, Perry (Spook) Richardson. Mom enjoyed badminton, tennis and bowling. She also enjoyed many years of gardening and knitting her beautiful socks. She was a 46-year member and past president of St. Lawrence CWL. Thanks to the care provided by the staff of Rhodena Wing at Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home. Visitation will be held Friday, April 15 in Mulgrave & Area Resting Place from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral mass will be held on Saturday, April 16 at 11 a.m. in St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, Mulgrave, with Rev. Allan MacPhie officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Donations may be made to St. Lawrence Parish Cemetery Fund, "Chalice" or charity of one’s choice.
