CUMMINGS, Doris Madeline -86, formerly of Valley Mills, Inverness Co., passed away on Monday, January 12, 2015, in the Inverary Manor, Inverness. Born in Springhill, Cumberland Co., she was a daughter of the late Sebert and Elsie (Chell) Fisher. Doris was the last founding member of the Blues Mills Gospel Hall.
Surviving are her children, Dorothy (Ernie) Cocks, Lawrencetown; Stephen (Florence), Valley Mills; Madeline (Laurie) Campbell, Whycocomagh; Martin, Pictou; Danny, Montreal; Carmeline (Jerry) Jones, Orangedale; Sarah (Jimmy) Beaton, Orangedale; Delores (Oliver) MacKinnon, Dingwall; sisters, Dorothy Fisher (Doris’ twin), Pauline Chapman, Elsie Freeman, Greta (Cecil) Hatt, Betty Mason, all of New Glasgow; brother, Gordon (Ruth) Fisher, Bridgewater; 23 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren. Doris was predeceased by her husband, Gordon; 2 sons in infancy; brothers, Harold and Chelbert; 3 sons-in-law and 1 daughter-in-law.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday in the Blues Mills Gospel Hall, from where the funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday with John Bain officiating. Burial in Upper River Denys Cemetery. Family flowers only please. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
