Please share a memory of Marion to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Cleary, Marion Bessie – 85, Guysborough Intervale. It is with sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, sister, grandmother and great grandmother, Marion Bessie Cleary, on Monday, March 21, 2011 in Milford Haven Home for Special Care, Guysborough with family members at her side. Marion was born in North Riverside, Guys. Co., June 9, 1925 to the late William and Hilda (Brymer) MacPherson.
Marion began teaching in Seal Harbour, at seventeen years old, after just months of teaching training. There she made lifelong friends, in both her students and their parents. At this young age, she recognized her passion for education, and that zeal guided her life as demonstrated by her encouragement of her children, grandchildren, and community children, whether she was helping with homework, working in retail store or teaching Religion class. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, but her courage and kind spirit will always be remembered.
She leaves to grieve her loss her children, Dianne (Ray) MacEachern, Sandra Lynn, Carolyn (Jimmy) Fougere, Gary (Hazel) Cleary, Janet (Charlie) Steele, Jacqueline (Mark) Brinsmead and daughter-in-law, Sharon Cleary. She is also survived by sisters, Hazel (Leo), Frances (Gary), and brother, Charles (Jennie), brother-in-law, Art Cleary, sisters-in-law, Ethel, Alice, Clara, Victoria. Her grandchildren, Fiona, Ian, Tara, Bronwyn, Meghan, Matthew, Maryn, Rhonda, Ryan, Cheryl, Carlton, Kyle, Michelle, Charles, Julie, Tommy, Rodney, Bradley, Angela, Justin, Jacqueline, Jillian, Jacob and Christopher were a constant source of joy to her; each grandchild could be called her "favourite." She was an inspiration to them with her sharp mind, her remarkable memory, and her genuine interest in their activities, especially their educational pursuits. They all knew their secrets were safe with her, but they could count on the "Nannie network" to relay the family news. Owen, Reanne, Serena, Nola, Jenna, and Gracie brought big smiles to their Great Nannie’s face! Besides her parents, Marion was predeceased by her husband, Hugh (1971), infant son, Jerome (1947), son, Ronald (2008), and sister, Velma.
Marion was very appreciative of all kindnesses bestowed upon her, and especially appreciative of the compassionate care she received at Canso Seaside Manor and the Milford Haven Home for Special Care. Sincere thank you is extended also to Drs. Foley, Ranjini and Bell.
Visitation will be Wednesday, March 23, from 1-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough. Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated by Father Jonathon Nweke, P.P. in St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Guysborough, Thursday, March 24 at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Parish Cemetery, Guysborough Intervale. Family flowers only please.
Donations in memory of Marion may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or Guysborough Food Bank. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at: www.haverstocks.com
