Connolly, Peter James - 52, Guysborough Intervale, Guysborough County. It is with very heavy hearts that the family of Peter Connolly announce the passing of a loving son, husband, brother and father on Sunday, January 16, 2011. Born in Antigonish, he was the son of Kenneth and Margaret (O'Connor) Connolly. Peter was a farmer and Christmas tree producer. He was on the board of the Northeastern Christmas Tree Association and a member of the St. Patrick's Men’s Club. He was an active member in his church and community. He was a very dedicated worker who loved the land and woods and treated it with great respect. He took great pride in producing a large garden every year. Peter loved going to card plays, meeting and talking to people, and having a great laugh. Peter loved food, especially lobsters which he enjoyed in large amounts every spring from his brother-in-law, Charlie. The greatest joy in Peter's life was his family. He loved his wife and four children dearly and was so proud of them. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Maxine (Warner), sons, Andrew, Sydney; Kenneth, Guysborough Intervale; daughters, Christina, Antigonish and Patricia, Halifax; brothers, Jerome (Rose), North Grant, Antigonish; Philip (Mary), Guysborough Intervale; Martin, Antigonish; sisters, Theresa Connolly, Saint John, NB; Dorothy (Joe) Delorey, Linwood, Antigonish Co.; Joanne (John) Davis, Plainfield, Conn.; Laura (Charlie) Gabriel, Lower Sackville; Alice (Art) Embree, Cole Harbour; and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by infant sister, Virginia Clare. Visitation will be held 2-9 p.m. Wednesday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough. Funeral mass will be held 1 p.m. Thursday, in St. Patrick's Roman Catholic Church, Guysborough Intervale with Father Anthony O’Connor officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made in Peter’s memory to Guysborough Memorial Hospital Auxiliary or the IWK Health Centre Foundation.
