Cole, Wardie Elizabeth - 92, Canso, passed away Tuesday, August 17, 2010 in the Milford Haven Home for Special Care, Guysborough. Born in Little Dover, Guys. Co., she was a daughter of the late Patrick and Mary (Casey) Fitzgerald. Wardie was a home maker and a member of Star of the Sea Parish, Canso, a former member of the C.W.L., Canso and a Lifetime member of Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 46, Canso. Wardie leaves to mourn daughters, Mary Vargo, St. Thomas, Ont.; Rose (Percy) Feltmate, Tickle and Margaret (John) Armsworthy, Canso; sons, Howard (Marion), Queensport; Austin (Dorothy), Brampton, Ont.; Martin and Gerald, both of Canso, she also leaves to mourn 19 grandchildren and 23 great- grandchildren. Wardie is the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her husband, Martin, daughter, Hazel Keith, sisters, Amanda, Margaret, Mary and Eva, brothers, Earl and Howard and great-granddaughter Catherine Wright. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso. Funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Friday in Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Canso with Fr. Bill Crispo officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations in memory of Wardie may be made to I.W.K. Health Care Foundation, Halifax or a charity of choice.
