Calder Donald Alfred-73, Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home, formerly of County Line Road, Richmond County passed away Wednesday November 29, 2006 in St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish surrounded by his family. Born in West Bay, Donald was a son of the late Robert and Olive (Clark) Calder. He was a self employed woodsman and worked security during the construction of SAREC. Friends were always welcome at Donald’s home in West Bay and at the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home where he resided the past 3 years, and was treated with much love and kindness. Donald will be remembered for his great sense of humor to all he met. He will be missed as a caring brother, uncle and friend. He is survived by sisters; Margaret MacArthur; Anna (Wilbert) Matthews; and Betty Calder all of Cleveland; nieces Bernadine and Olivia Matthews; nephews Robert and Lee Matthews, Evan Jesso; grandniece, Candace Ingraham; grandnephews Whalen Matthews and Henry James. He was predeceased by stepfather John M. Campbell, brother, Alex, infant brother Fred.
There will be no visitation. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Saturday in the West Bay United Church, Rev. James Bragan officiating, burial in the West Bay Cemetery. Donations in memory of Donald may be made to Brain Tumor Clinic of Nova Scotia or the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home. Funeral arrangements under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury.
