CARTER, John Jacob - 84, Philips Harbour, Guysborough Co., died August 9, 2004, in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Phillips Harbour, he was a son of the late Frank and Cordelia (Rudolph) Carter. He was a retired fisherman and veteran of the Second World War serving overseas in the Canadian Army with the Pictou Highlanders. He was a member of Christ Church Anglican, Queensport. Surviving are his wife, the former Doris Furby; daughters, Sharon (Peter) DeGroot, Middle Stewiacke; Valerie Carter, Londonderry; son, Gary (Dagmar), Pictou; sister, Vera (Clifford) Wasson, Truro; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers, Carmen, Charlie; an infant sister and infant granddaughter.
There will be no visitation. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, August 13, in Christ Church, Queensport, Rev. Tory Byrne officiating. Burial in the church cemetery.
