MacLEOD, Shirley Catherine- Age 69, West Bay Road, Inverness Co., passed away peacefully in the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home, Antigonish on Friday, April 14, 2017. Born in Sydney she was a daughter of the late Angus Nicholson and Margaret Ellen (Lamey) MacLeod. Shirley enjoyed her time at the R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home between the staff and residents. In her earlier years, Shirley graduated in Ontario from the Registered Nursing Assistant Program and was employed in Ontario. At the R.K. she loved to help the residents and doing for others gave her a purpose. She will be forever missed by her children, Evan McCauley, Saskatoon; Garth Ryan (Maggie), West Bay Road; Tanya (Stephen) MacMaster, Port Hastings; grandchildren, John (the apple of her eye), also cherished Connor, Ryan, Lauryn and Adam; brothers, Hugh (Mary) MacLeod, Port Hawkesbury; David (Jo) MacLeod, Arlington, Massachusetts; sister, Ruth (John) Carroll, West Bay Road; former husband, Terry Ryan; many cousins, nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. A private graveside service will take place at a later date in Kempt Road Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Cathy’s Place, The Women’s Centre or to the Mental Health Association.
