Desmond, James Arthur, 85 – Lincolnville. Great family provider, ever present father, grandfather, great-grandfather, beloved brother, loving uncle and cherished friend joined his wife, Mary Agnes (MacLellan) Desmond, and children Sidney, Beatrice in God’s Loving Embrace early Sunday morning August 4, 2019. Jim was the last surviving member of his immediate family having been predeceased by his parents, William and Jane (Ash) Desmond; his sisters, Effie, Margaret, Ann, Emma, Gert, Flo and Charlotte and his brothers, Clarence, Jack and Wilfred. As an avid community historian he loved participating in and leading community story telling; enjoying music, enthusiastically cheering for wrestling and boxing live or on television. Sunday driving, seeking out flea markets and antiquing while driving through scenic forest areas on rural routes filled the heart of this land-loving and life-long forester with the greatest of joy. Jim also worked as a seaman and deckhand. Celebrating Jim’s appreciation for natural resources, tremendous strength and work ethic are his children James Jr. (Cindy) with whom he resided in Lincolnville; Clifford (Jessica), Halifax; and Raymond, Winnipeg; generations of grand, great & great-great -grandchildren, nieces & nephews; foster parent of grandchildren, Rob, Keith, Shelia, Janet and Bessie. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 9 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Tracadie Baptist Church and from where the funeral service will take place on Saturday, August 10 at 2 p.m. with grand-daughter, Rev. Elaine Walcott officiating. Burial in Sunnyview Cemetery, Tracadie. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury.
