It is with absolute sadness that we announce the passing of Christine Ann Doyle (Smith) of Whiteside, Richmond Co. Christine died peacefully at the age of 76 on Sunday, July 28, 2019, surrounded by her loving family in the Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston.Born in Deep Dale on April 17, 1943, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary (MacEachen) Smith.
Christine was predeceased by her husband of 56 years, Joseph Doyle on May 5, 2019; grandson, James Ryan. Christine is survived by her children, Edna Jane Doyle (Michael Marryatt), Port Hawkesbury; Joan Doyle (Tammy Doucette), Charlottetown; Joseph Doyle (Dr. Sophie Hubert), Halifax; Natasha Senuk (Lance Senuk), Port Hawkesbury; Carmie Doyle (Cyril Roach), Evanston; grandaughter, Sonya Jesso (Charles Jesso), Port Hawkesbury.
Grandchildren, great-grandchildren, Juston Ryan (Cortni Engler) (father John Ryan), Fort McMurray; Garett (Kristine Landry), Fort McMurray; Adam (Dakota Conrad), Keighan and Carissa (father Kevin Dorton), Port Hawkesbury; Euan, Aiden, Alex and Jeanne (Joseph Doyle – Dr. Sophie Hubert), Halifax; Brittany France; Campbell Young and Caden Jesso, Port Hawkesbury; James, Alex, Caitlyn (Papa’s Girl) Landry (father Scott Landry), Evanston; Baby Roach (father Cyril Roach), Evanston; Xavier Doyle, Fort McMurray; Aubree Doyle, Port Hawkesbury; Londyn Ryan, Fort McMurray; siblings, Angus Smith (Pauline), Collie Smith, Donald James Smith and Karen Gillies; brothers and sisters-in-law, Peggy Leonard, Gloria McNamara (Paul), Hughie John MacDonald (Levine), Tina Marinich (Richard) as well as many nieces and nephews.
Christine’s love of family, life, hard work and laughter was displayed daily through her complete dedication to her husband, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and other friends and family. Christine has been employed as a teacher and then as a professional cook until retiring in 2010.
She also dedicated much time to fund raising for the Heart and Stroke Foundation and was awarded the Volunteer of the Year Award by Premier John Savage. She loved to paint which she first started in 1977 while taking art classes.
Many thanks for the support of family, friends, Catholic Clergy and the Dr’s and staff of the Strait Richmond Hospital with a special thank you to Father Duncan for anointing our mother and for administering the last rites of the Catholic Church shortly before she passed.
In keeping with Christine’s wishes, there will be visitation on Friday, August 2, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home and from where a memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday with Father Duncan MacIsaac officiating. Funeral mass and burial from St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Whiteside will follow at a later date. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
