Davis, Mary Sarah- 96, Port Hawkesbury, passes away on Wednesday, December 7, 2011 in Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home, in the loving arms of her caregiver. Born in Port Hawkesbury on April 18, 1915, she was a daughter of the late William and Catherine Anne (MacEachern) MacDonald. Mary was a devoted member of St. Joseph Parish. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She will be sadly missed by her sons, William "Billy" (Marie), Newtown; and John (Alanna) MacInnis, Port Hawkesbury; grandchildren, Troy, Lisa, Matthew, Ashli and Allen; niece, Irene (Albert) Wheaton. She was predeceased by her husband, George; sisters, Catherine Jane Hines, Kaye Oxner and Margaret MacDonald; brothers, Hugh James, Johnny and Archie; nieces, Connie O’Keefe and Annie Hines. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with a vigil service at 2:00 p.m. today, both in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. Saturday from St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury, with Rev. Andrew Boyd officiating. Burial will be in St. David’s United Church Cemetery, Port Hastings. Memorial donations in Mary’s memory may be made to a charity of your choice.
