DAVIES, John Douglas "Doug" – 64, Guysborough Intervale, passed away Friday, Feb. 25, 2011 in Guysborough Memorial Hospital. He was the son of the late John F. and Mary (Klassen) Davies, of Alberta. Doug was born in Lethbridge, AB. He joined the RCAF in 1963, serving in several stations across Canada and 4 years in Germany. He retired in 1992. After his retirement, he worked as a Security Guard until 1997. Doug is survived by his wife of 30 years, Elaine (Connolly) Davies, Guysborough Intervale; brother, Glen, Lethbridge, AB; sisters, Patricia Andersen, BC and Katherine (Richard) Henninger, AB; Uncle George (Marie) Klassen, Calgary, AB; brothers-in-law, John (Dee) Connolly, Beaver Bank, NS; Kevin (Darlene) Connolly, Pictou, NS; sister-in-law, Mary K. Connolly, Guysborough Intervale; nephews, Kris Andersen, John T. Henninger, Mark Henninger; nieces, Kim Andersen, Jody Henninger, Karen Henninger, special nephews, Trevor Connolly, Ottawa, ON; Ryan Connolly, Cochrane, AB; and Kelly Connolly, Lower Sackville, NS. Besides his parents, Doug was predeceased by his nephew, Jeff Henninger, several aunts, uncles and cousins. Many thanks to Dr. Anita Foley, Dr. Barb Bell and the wonderful nursing staff at Guysborough Memorial Hospital for the kindness and caring during Doug’s illness. Visitation will take place in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough, Wednesday, March 2, from 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm. Funeral Mass will be held in St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, Guysborough Intervale, on Thursday at 11 am, with Fr. Jonathan Nweke officiating. Interment to follow in the parish cemetery.
