DOWNARD, Ann Catherine - 58, Long Stretch Road. It is with profound sadness that the family of Ann Downard announce her passing, after a long battle with cancer that she fought with her usual strength, grace, positive outlook and dignity. Ann passed away in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish on Tuesday, January 16, 2007. Born in Mackdale, she was a daughter of the late Stanley and Isabell (MacLean) MacKinnon. She was a member of St. David’s United Church, Port Hastings, and was a former employee of Atlantic Superstore, Port Hawkesbury. She is survived by her husband, Robert "Bob"; daughters, Lorrie (Kenneth) McNamara, Evanston; Bonnie (Howard) Hatcher, Crandall Road; Cindy (Rob) Aucoin, Bedford; Robin (T.J.) Campbell, Iqaluit, NU; Katelyn, at home. She also leaves to mourn sisters, Sharon (David) Pringle, Newtown; Heather (Regeant) Deschenes, Kings Road; Anna, Port Hastings; Hazel (Gordon) MacLean, Sugar Camp; brothers, Howard (Marie), Port Hawkesbury; Allan, Port Hastings; grandchildren, Robert, Cassie, Heather, Kara, Abby, Matthew, Joshua; several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her grandparents, Annie and Hector MacLean, and Lizzie and Howard MacKinnon, and sister, June MacKinnon. Visitation will be held today and Friday 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in St. David’s United Church, Rev. Wilfred Pelley officiating. Burial in St. David's Cemetery. Donations in memory of Ann may be made to St. David's United Church or Canadian Cancer Society.
