Obituary
Please share a memory of Kenneth to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Wood, Kenneth Alexander – Age 83 of Port Hawkesbury formally of Auld’s Cove. Beloved husband, father and grandfather passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 13, 2017 in the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home surrounded by his family.
Born in Antigonish, he was a son of the late John and Jessie (MacAskill) Wood. Ken worked on various drill rigs throughout his career and retired as a well driller for E.D. Stewart Ltd. after 40 years.
He was a former member of the Auld’s Cove Volunteer Fire Department and the Auld’s Cove Recreation Association. Ken enjoyed a good game of crib or 45s, fishing, trapping, snowmobiling and 4 wheeling. He was an avid Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Maple Leafs fan. Ken was well known for brightening the day of those around him with his feeble attempts at yodeling, little white lies, jokes, elaborate stories and contagious laughter. His sense of humor and kind soul will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years, the former Mary Catherine LeBlanc; his sons, Barry (Janet) Wood, Sydney and Tony (Marion) Wood, Auld’s Cove; granddaughters, Leah (Kevin) Pallard; Dartmouth and Kayla (Drew) Donnelly, Sydney. He is also survived by sisters, Margie (Leo), Auld’s Cove; Barbara Thompson, Antigonish; brothers, Joe (Chrissy) Wood, Auld’s Cove; Danny (Jean) Wood, Cape Jack; Vincent (Annie) Wood, Port Hawkesbury and Larry (Linda) Wood of Auld’s Cove. He was predeceased by sisters, Laura Fougere, Mary (Vincent) and Carol in infancy; brothers, Bernie, Ronnie, Jackie and Allan.
