MANSFIELD, Joseph Warren. We sadly announce the passing of Joseph Warren Mansfield age 94, of Sunnyville, Guysborough Co., on Wednesday, March 29, 2017, in the Guysborough Memorial Hospital with family and staff by his side. Joseph was born on August 20, 1922, in Guysborough to the late Joseph and Charlotte Mansfield. Joseph joins once again in the Grace of God with his late wife of 69 years, Marion Oliven Mansfield (Borden); his sisters, Sophie, Glady, Helen; brothers, George, Walter and Raymond. He also joins his son, Frederick; daughter, Josephine and a daughter in infancy. Joseph leaves behind to mourn daughters, Yvonne, Grand Falls, N.L.; Verna (Douglas), Ontario; Ruby (John), Sunnyville; sons, Clyde (Martha), Albert (Linda), both of Sunnyville; Herbert (Janice), Joseph Jr. (Catherina), both of Ontario; Walter (Rosie), Michael (Marion), Roland (Mary Ann), all of Sunnyville; Maurice, Ontario; Brian (Bonnie), Antigonish; foster son, Ron Brodie, Ontario; Joseph also leaves behind 39 grandchildren; 60 great-grandchildren; 14 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Joseph worked for many years in the woods, either cutting firewood, pulpwood or working with Christmas trees. Joe knew what a hard day’s work was and looked forward to everyday. He would often use his horse to haul the wood out and he loved to be around his horse. When he wasn’t working, he loved to listen to country music and loved having family and friends come by for a get together. He helped build the Sunnyville ball field and both Joseph and his late wife took pride in their community and will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved them. Visitation will be from 1-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough. Funeral service will take place on Monday at 2 p.m. from Wesley United Church, Guysborough with Rev. Heather Manuel officiating. Burial in Evergreen Cemetery, Guysborough at a later date. Pallbearers for the late Joseph Warren Mansfield will be his grandsons, Michael, Cordel, Jermal, Paul, Calvin and Corey. Honorary pallbearers will be Gregory, Scott, Marian, Bruce, Travis.
