KENNEDY, William Bernard "Bernie"- Age 79, Sherbrooke/Ogden. It is with great sadness that the family of William Bernard "Bernie" Kennedy announce his passing in High Crest Nursing Home, Sherbrooke on Saturday, March 25, 2017. Born in Ogden, Guysborough Co., on February 25, 1938, he was the second oldest son of the late John Daniel "Jack" and Hazel Naomi (Richardson) Kennedy.
Bernie moved to Ontario as a young man and this is where he met his wife, Joyce and had his children. He was employed in construction in the early 1960’s and later worked for Goodyear Tire and CIL Paints. Bernie returned home to Ogden in 1988 after the passing of his father. Bernie enjoyed fishing and the outdoors, card games and having visits with his many family members. We will miss him dearly.
Bernie is survived by his daughter, Shelley (Robert) Ferguson, Kelowna, BC; son, Allan (Kelly) Kennedy, Acton, Ont; grandsons, Jack and Owen Kennedy. Bernie is also survived by brothers, Joe Kennedy, Giants Lake; John (Pauline) Kennedy, Greg (Gertie) Kennedy, both of Fraser’s Mills; Bill Kennedy, Ogden; sisters, Rose (Malcolm) Reid, Kingston, Ont; Bertha Chisholm, North Ogden; Nina (Raymond) Halloran, Guysborough; Sheila MacDonald, Mineville; Florence (Buddy) Murphy, Phyllis (Melvin) MacDonald, both of Lochaber; Ann Marie MacHattie, Copper Lake; many nieces and nephews; special friend and niece, Diane Chisholm. He was predeceased by sisters, Mary MacDonald and Judy Budgell; 2 siblings in infancy; brothers-in-law, Allan B. MacDonald, Rod MacDonald, Fred Chisholm and Brian MacHattie; sister-in-law, Annabelle Kennedy; nephews, Dale Kennedy and Duncan MacDonald; former wife, Joyce Kennedy.
Cremation has taken place. There will be a private family Celebration of Bernie’s life. Burial will be at a later date in St. Thomas Parish Cemetery, Erinville. Memorial donations may be made to St. Thomas Parish Cemetery Fund, or to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
