RHYNOLD, Frederick Arthur- Age 64, Canso, passed away Thursday, March 9, 2017, in the QEII Health Sciences Centre, VG Site, Halifax. Born on January 10, 1953, in Antigonish, he was the son of the late Arthur Baker and Nettie Jean (Ward) Rhynold. He is survived by his wife, Martha (Baker), Canso; daughter, Natasha (Peter), Fort Saskatchewan; son, David (Brandy), Calgary; step-daughter, Toni (Dan), Beaver Bank; grandchildren, Samantha, Justin, Serenity, Moana, Rory and Vimy; brother, William (Pat), Canso; sister, Mary (Foster) Lohnes, Dartmouth. Fred will be greatly missed by a large extended family and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was predeceased by his parents and his niece, Shannon Lohnes. Fred was employed for 33 years with Natural Resources and worked with the Canso Harbour Authority. He was past Fire Chief of the Chedabucto Volunteer Fire Department, Queensport, past President of Royal Canadian Legion Branch 46, Canso and was a member of Ground Search and Rescue. Fred loved fishing, hunting and boating. He enjoyed spending time at Elder’s Nest, his camp and playing cards. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Wednesday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso. A mass and Christian burial will be held 11 a.m. Thursday from Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Canso, with Father Daniel J. MacDonald officiating. Interment to follow in Star of the Sea Parish Cemetery, Canso. Memorial donations may be made to Star of the Sea Parish. Family flowers only please.
