MacDONALD, Donald Roderick Lawrence- Age 64, Riverside Road, Inverness Co. With broken hearts we announce the passing of Donald Roderick Lawrence MacDonald on Sunday, May 22, 2016, at his sister Marie MacDonald’s home following a lengthy illness. Born in Riverside, he was a son of the late Roderick Joseph "RJ" and Jessie (MacMaster) MacDonald. Donald was a quiet man, but opened up to tell great stories when he was comfortable. He spent much time drawing and creating with his artistic skills, whether it was by hand or machine. He loved his music, especially Johnny Cash and was always keeping rhythm with his drum set to a favourite song. Donald was kind and had a sense of humour that was sharp and quick. He took great pride in his young grandchildren, who affectionately called him Grampie. He touched the hearts of many and will be dearly missed. Donald is survived by pride and joy, his daughters, Donna Rebecca Jean (Neil), New Waterford; Jessica Marie (Judd), Riverside Road; grandchildren, Kaleb, Leah and Logan. He is also survived by brother, Leo (Irene) MacDonald, Riverside Road; sisters, Margaret McNamara, Hampton, NB; Cecilia MacDonald, Sydney; Jeanette (Guy) Arsenault, The Points; Marie MacDonald, Riverside Road. Donald will be dearly missed by his nieces, nephews, grandnieces and nephews, with whom he had a special bond. He was predeceased by his brother, Ronald Joseph "Rannie" MacDonald; brothers-in-law, Joseph McNamara and Allan MacDonald. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Friday from St. Margaret’s Roman Catholic Church, West Bay Road with Father Callistus Abazie officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
