MacDonald, John Peter – 63, Port Hawkesbury, Inverness Co.; died Sunday, October 11, 2015 at home. Born in Brantford, ON, he was a son of the late Francis Joseph "Frank" and Evelyn "Effie" (McMullin) MacDonald. John was custodian employed by Strait Regional School Board, TEC, SAERC and a member of CUPE 995. He was a member of St. Joseph Parish, Port Hawkesbury and associate member Royal Canadian Legion Branch 43, Port Hawkesbury. John is survived by sisters, Mary (Bill Henwood), MacIntyre Lake; Donna (Gussie) MacCalder, Lexington; Bernadine (Francis) MacKinnon, Westville; Dougalenes (Francis) Bowman, Port Hawkesbury; brother, Gary (Aileen), Port Hawkesbury; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by sister in infancy. There will be no visitation. Funeral mass will be held 10 a.m. Thursday in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury with Father Conrad Edwards officiating. Burial in the Parish Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or charity of choice.
