. MacDonald, Ronald Joseph "Rannie" - Trenton, Pictou Co. age 72. We regret to announce the passing of Ronald Joseph "Rannie" MacDonald in Aberdeen Regional Hospital, New Glasgow on Thursday, April 30, 2015. Born in Riverside, Inverness Co., he was a son of the late R.J. and Jessie MacDonald. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Isabelle (MacCulloch); brothers-in-law, Joseph McNamara and Allan MacDonald. Surviving members of his family are sister, Margaret McNamara, Hampton, NB; Cecilia MacDonald, Sydney Forks; Jeanette (Guy) Arsenault, West Bay Points; Marie MacDonald, Riverside; brothers, Leo (Irene) MacDonald, Riverside; Donald MacDonald, Riverside; along with several nieces and nephews. Rannie was a member of Local 1231, United Steel Workers Union and worked as a Millwright at Trenton Car Works until illness forced him to retire. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 29, Trenton. He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends. His kindness and unique sense of humour enriched all those who knew him. Rannie will be missed especially by best friends, Margaret Weir, Ken Fraser, Derek Brown and Paul MacIntyre. Also by step-children, Marjorie Weir (Bruce Bordon) and their son, Rahshawn Weir "Poppy’s Boy"; Melanie (Stu) MacLean and their children; Matthew Weir (April) and their children. Visitation will be from 7-9 p.m. Monday in R. H. Porter Funeral Home, 73 High St., Trenton. Rannie will then be transferred to Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, 724 Granville St., Port Hawkesbury, where he will rest from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Tuesday. Funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Wednesday from St. Margaret’s Roman Catholic Church, West Bay Road, with Father Callistus Abazie officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to St. Margaret’s Cemetery Fund or to a charity of one’s choice.
