Please share a memory of Betty to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Hardiman, Betty Louvilla – Port Hawkesbury. It is with heavy Hearts that the family of Betty Hardiman announces her Passing on Saturday, October 4, 2014 at St. Martha’s Regional Hospital, Antigonish. With her family at her side, she peacefully and courageously passed this life following a month long battle with complications of a stroke. Born in Mushaboom, on August 3, 1933 she was the daughter of Courtney and Tillie Boutilier. Her early life was spent on Boutilier’s Island (Malagash). She was a committed parishioner of Holy Trinity Anglican Church, where she was involved in the Altar Guild, ACW, Choir, Sunday school, Church Council and Synod. She was a mentor to many and had great knowledge in matters pertaining to the spiritual and sacramental life of the Church.
Her involvement in the wider community was varied. She served with EMO, Red Cross and was a financial officer with the Co-op movement. She never missed an opportunity with whatever her family involved themselves in. Her work life included various positions with the Bank of Nova Scotia in Sheet Harbour and in Port Hawkesbury with the Royal Bank of Canada and the Town of Port Hawkesbury as Assistant Town Clerk.
She is survived by her life-long soul mate and husband of 62 years, Tom. They were inseparable. Also sons, Tom (Alana), Port Hawkesbury; Richard (Michele), Grand Prairie, AB; grandchildren, Adam, Fort McMurray, AB; Kory (Megan), Edmonton, AB; Luke (Allison), Halifax; Samantha (Shane), Dartmouth; step grandchildren, Marie, Port Hawkesbury; Amanda (Rod), Kanata, ON; great-grand child, Emily, Dartmouth and step great-grandchild, Malcolm, Kanata, ON. She was predeceased by brother, Binnie. Thank you to the thoughtful attending Physicians, Drs. Boyd, Chaisson, Gallivan, Gorman, MacLean, and Marchand.
A special measure of gratitude for the loving care provided by the Paramedics of EHS, the Emergency, GARU and ICU teams at St. Martha’s; and the staff at the Strait Richmond Hospital, dignified care for all. The family is grateful for the spiritual care provided by Rev. Evelyn Knorr, Rev. Sue Channen, Sister Catherine Ann, Deacon Arthur Riley and Rev. Peter MacRae. Thank you to all the neighbours and friends who provided support throughout.
