RIORDAN, Shane Patrick – 49, Bible Hill. After a courageous battle with cancer, Shane Patrick Riordan, passed away peacefully on Monday, July 22, 2013, in the Colchester East Hants Health Centre, Truro.
Born in Halifax, he was the eldest son of Dorothy Warner of Bible Hill and the late Thomas "Teddy" Riordan. Over the years, Shane had varied occupations, but his great love was working out at sea. He studied at the NSCC Strait Area Campus, Nautical School and was formerly employed by the Canadian Coast Guard. He was a past member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Truro Branch 26 and the Truro Horse mans Club.
He will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by sons, Shane Riordan ( Jenyne Willard and granddaughter, Mikaela), Hamilton, Ont; Thomas Riordan, Edmonton; daughter, Haley Edwards, Halifax; brother, Thomas "Teddy" Riordan, Onslow; sister, Kim Riordan (Steve Milon), London, Ont. He was predeceased by brother, Wade Riordan. A special thank you to Elizabeth MacPherson VON, Rev. Lori Ramsey, the doctors and nurses in the palliative care unit and extended family and friends who have provided care and support.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-9 p.m. Wednesday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, 724 Granville St. Port Hawkesbury. Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday from St. Mark’s United Church, Port Hawkesbury, with Nan Corrigan officiating. Burial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
As long as we have memories, he will never be forgotten.
