Obituary
Please share a memory of Duncan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
KENNEDY, Duncan Stewart - 77, of Port Hastings, Inverness Co., passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 6, 2012. He was born in Orangedale, the son of the late Graham and Marion (MacIver) Kennedy. He was predeceased by his wife, Ardeth (Oxner).
As a young man, Stewart was an employee of the CNR and began working at the local pulp mill in the 1960s so he would not have to travel when he and Ardeth started their family. He loved trains, animals, drawing, nature, boating on the Bras D’Or and a good joke. In his last decade, ill health prevented him from participating in community events, but he stayed current with news both locally and worldwide.
He is survived by his daughters, Catherine (Hugh) of Bermuda; Heather (Michael) of Louisbourg; brother, Iver of Florida and beloved grandchildren, Erin, Meredith and Graydon. Sincere thanks go to Stewart’s wonderful team of caregivers, who allowed him to live at home in spite of many health issues, and to the caring professionals at Strait Richmond Hospital.
Donations may be made to the Nova Scotia Lung Association, The Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice. A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Funeral arrangements are under the care of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
