ENGLAND, Sandy Carson, - 67, Steep Creek, Guysborough Co. It is with incredible broken hearts that we announce the sudden passing of our brother and uncle, Sandy Carson England, on Tuesday, August 28, 2012.
Born at home on January 21, 1945, he was the twelfth child of loving parents of the late Howard and Jessie (Cummings) England. Sandy is survived by brothers, Howard, Mulgrave; Preston, Steep Creek; Edward (Carol), Melford; Ralph (Marion), Mulgrave; sisters, Geraldine Parks and Calestine "Toots" England, both of Steep Creek; Lorna Josey and Myra MacEacheron, both of Halifax; a large number of nieces and nephews, who loved Sandy dearly, also sister’s-in-law, Helen and Linda. Besides his Mom and Dad, Sandy was predeceased by sister, Rena; brothers, Earl and Albert; two nephews and a niece.
Sandy really enjoyed a nice hot cup of tea and listening to Newfoundland music and going for a drive on Sunday’s. Sandy worked hard all his life and enjoyed every minute of it. He started very young as a deck hand on the M.V. Vaneheim, running from Mulgrave to Guysborough. Also Robert Fox (Norvon Enterprises) worked as a stevedore in Mulgrave on the freight boats. He also worked on the C.N.R and also with many local companies doing labour jobs throughout the province. Sandy was a member of the Labourers International Union Local 615 for 43 years.
Sandy was a member of St. James Anglican Church, Middle Melford, from where a private family graveside service will be held 2:30p.m. Friday, September 7, 2012, with Rev. Evelyn Knorr officiating. Memorial donations may be made to St. James Anglican Church, Middle Melford. Funeral arrangements for Sandy are under the care and direction of the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
