SNIDER, Nancy Gertrude , 73 of Guysborough , formerly of Manchester , passed away July 12, 2012 in Guysborough Memorial Hospital, Guysborough. She was the daughter of the late Francis and Hazel (Smith) Grant of St Francis Harbour, Guysborough County.
Mom was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She had a great love for the Anglican Church and a strong faith in God. She loved to bake and cook for family and friends. Mom was a passionate gardener who found great joy and contentment in her flower beds, which were admired by many. She enjoyed the birds and nature and was a tender-hearted soul. Mom loved country music, singing, and poetry. She was blessed with a wonderful sense of humour that was with her even in her struggle with cancer.
Mom leaves behind her husband of 54 years, Keith; her loving daughters Connie, Dartmouth, Tracey (Dana) Aveline of Mahoney’s Beach, Antigonish and son Paul (Carol Ann) of Manchester. Her grandchildren: grandsons Timothy and Tyler of Manchester and granddaughter Mariah of Ingersoll, Ontario, granddaughter Sarah in Dartmouth, and special granddaughter Athena of Antigonish. Cherished great grandchildren, Angel, Matthias, Mia and Benjamin.
Sister Ruth, Mass. Brothers Garnet, St. Francis Harbour: Neil, Guysborough: Alan, Sackville. Special sister Merriam of Enfield. Many nieces and nephews.
Predeceased by sister Cynthia, brother Gerald, and two brothers in infancy.
The family wishes to thank all who took part in Mom’s care at the VG Hospital, St Martha’s Hospital and Guysborough Memorial Hospital. Special thanks to Dr. Anita Foley, Dr Barbara Bell, Dr Brian Steeves and Dr Slater.
No visitation or funeral service. Cremation has taken place. Committal service will be held Saturday at 11:00 am at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Hadleyville, Guysborough County with Rev. Derrock Fagen officiating. Gathering of family and friends to follow, at St Francis Harbour Hall.
Donations may be made to the Guysborough Memorial Hospital or to the Cemetery Fund for the Holy Trinity Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
