KENNEDY, Florence – 93, Beloved mother, sister and grandmother of Guysborough, passed away on Monday July 9, 2012, in the Guysborough Memorial Hospital. Born in Brookline, Massachusetts, she was a daughter of the late Michael and Mary (Chisholm) Delorey, of North Riverside, NS. She was the wife of the late Leo Kennedy. Florence grew up in North Riverside and did housekeeping jobs for most of her working life. Though widowed, she raised three children to successful adulthood. Rarely a day passed without contact from her children, who considered her their best friend. Florence had a strong faith in God. She led by example, being a confident, yet humble and grateful person. Her loving and accepting personality won her many friends and acquaintances. In her later years, she loved talking on the phone and had many "phone friends". She is survived by her children, Arminta (Ian Gregg), Hortonville; Daniel, Upper Sackville; Wayne, Calgary AB; three wonderful grandchildren, Hannah, Sarah and Catherine Kennedy of Truro; sister, Margaret AuCoin, Boston; plus six nieces and a nephew and many cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Leo; sister, Catherine; nephews, Steven and Thomas AuCoin. The family would like to thank the neighbours, relatives and friends who were always willing to do an errand or visit Mum in her senior years. Thanks to Mum’s doctors over the years, especially Dr. Foley, the nurses and nursing home staff. Visitation will be on Thursday July 12, from 2-4 and 7-9pm in the Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough. Funeral Mass will be 10am Friday from St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Guysborough, with Father Bernie MacAdam officiating. Burial will follow in St. Ann’s Parish Cemetery. No flowers by request. Donations in memory of Florence may be made to St. Ann’s Church, Guysborough food bank, or honour Florence by phoning a senior citizen or visiting a nursing home.
