Macdonald, Isabel Alexandra "Queenie"- Blues Mills, passed into the presence of her Lord and Saviour on Monday, October 10, 2011 at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 15, 1913 in Kewstoke, Cape Breton to the late Duncan and Katherine (MacQueen) MacPherson.
She will be affectionately remembered by her sister, Kay (Lloyd) Matheson, Calgary; daughter, Isabel Venezuela; daughter, Estelle Sinclair, Blues Mills; son, David (Florence), Fort McMurray; son, Calvin (Mary Ann), Blues Mills; daughter, Margie (Ron) Steffensen, New Glasgow; daughter, Mabel, (David) Swan, Sydney; 23 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren (three on the way), one great-great-grandchildren and her nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her devoted husband, David; brother, Donald MacPherson; infant daughter, Esther; daughter, Ione Bartlett, son-in-law, Bruce Sinclair and great-granddaughter, Dawn Lenna Swan.
"Grandma" was a very special mother, grandmother and a beloved teacher to many in various schools in Cape Breton. "Grandpa" and "Grandma" were very hospitable and warmly welcomed family and friends into their home. She was well known for her delicious biscuits and oat cakes. She attended Blues Mills Gospel Hall for many years. To the many people who remember her as grandma she will be remembered as a sweet, kind and very patient person.
The viewing will be held at the Blues Mills Gospel Hall on Wednesday, October 12, from 2:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held in the Blues Mills Gospel Hall on Thursday, October 13 at 2:00 p.m. with David Swan and Fred Bartlett officiating. Burial in Upper River Denys Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury.
