MacDonald, Vincent Daniel - 96, Judique, Inverness Co.; passed away on Sunday, February 20, 2011 in Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home. He is the last surviving member of his immediate family. Born in Centennial, April 26, 1914, he was a son of the late Angus A. and Flora (MacDougall) MacDonald. Vincent spent his early years as a miner in Quebec and Ontario, later as a lobster fisherman and a heavy equipment operator for the Department of Highways. Vincent, even though he suffered many hardships during his lifetime, never lost his sense of humor or his ability to tell stories. He was a true friend to all and especially to his four great friends, John, Joxy, Josey and Jessie, whom he has now joined. Vincent is survived by his children, Eldon (Yvette), Toronto, Ont.; Ronnie (Christine), Judique; Bobby (Sharon), Windsor, Ont.; Florence (Bob), Lower Sackville; Betty Anne (Bob), Edmonton, Alta.; Gregory, Edmonton, Alta.; and Jane Marie, Toronto, Ont.; grandchildren, Rhonda (Kevin) Temple, Charmaine and Tara Graves; Tonya (Kevin) Dort, David (Dawn) and Alexander MacDonald; Stacey (Steve) Price, and Shawn (Marcela) MacDonald; Robbie Cameron; Jessiah and Renee MacDonald; great grandchildren, Stephen, Gregory, Cody, Victoria, Rebecca, Jordan, Seth, Vincent and Xavier. He also leaves to mourn his sister-in-law, Jeanette (Hanifen) MacDonald, Quincy, Mass.; as well as many nieces and nephews. Vincent was predeceased by his wife, Jessie Rebecca (MacDonell) in 1992, and son, Vincent in infancy; sisters, Jane, Anne and Christy; brothers, John D., Johnnie, Alexander, Robert, William, and three brothers in infancy. A special thank-you to the staff of the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home for the love and care given to Vincent. Visitation will be held Thursday, February 24, 7-9 p.m. and Friday, February 25, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in the Community Room of the Judique and District Fire Hall. Funeral mass will be held Saturday, February 26 at 11 a.m. in St. Andrew's Roman Catholic Church, Judique with Fr. Allan MacMillan officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery at a later date.
