Please share a memory of Earl to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
England, Earl Tremaine “Papa” – 79, of Port Hastings died surrounded by his loved ones on Monday, October 25, 2010 at home. Earl was born in Steep Creek, Guys. Co., on March 3, 1931. He was the son of the late Howard and Jessie (Cummings) England. Dad’s illness struck him very suddenly and he endured all without any complaints during the eight months in hospital and his time at home. He was an example to all. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Parish of Port Hawkesbury.
He is survived by his wife Linda (Green) of 49 years; daughters, Debbie, at home; Donna (Eric) George and children, Marissa, Dryden and Shanika; Jackie (Francis) Rogers and son, Nathan, all of Port Hawkesbury; and son Tremaine( Lynn) and children, Colton, Colby and Caleigh of Frankville. Earl is survived by sisters, Geraldine Parks and Calestine England both of Steep Creek; Lorna Josey and Myra MacEachern both of Dartmouth; brothers Howard and Ralph ( Marion) both of Mulgrave; Eddie (Carol) of Middle Melford; Preston and Sandy both of Steep Creek; sister-in-law, Helen England of Bedford; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by grandson, Nolan Rogers; sister Rena Boyle; brother Teddy (Helen) England; brother-in-law, Paul Boyle; Harry (Geraldine) Parks; Bob (Lorna) Josey and sister-in-law Jean (Howard) England.
Earl shared a special bond with his youngest grandchildren, Colton, Colby, Caleigh and Nathan. He enjoyed especially storytelling, jokes and little songs but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and his garden.
His life had varied experiences; he fished and bought lobsters for several years and he worked for CNR for 11 years. He retired from Store Enso, Port Hawkesbury after 29 years of services. He was life time member of Local 902. Earl volunteered in various areas: the Boys Scouts for 3 years, a Trustee of Port Hastings School Board for 3 years. He was always willing to lend a helping hand for anyone in need.
The family would like to thank the following: Drs. Periera, Myles, El-halees, and Salameh; the respiratory team: Debbie, Moira and Dwayne; Cheryl Melnyk; the Palliative Care team: Lynn MacDonald, Frances Chisholm and Drs. MacKenzie and Dempster all of St. Martha’s Hospital; the Palliative Care of Strait Richmond Hospital, Nancy Cameron and Dr. Pluta, Port Hawkesbury; Continuing Care RNs and EHS, Jason Helpard and staff; Chaplain Father Neil MacKenna, and Sister Catherine, pastoral care at St. Martha’s Hospital; the ALS Society of Halifax, Rudy St. Micheals; Father Andrew Boyd and Sister Rosalie Lahey of St. Joseph’s Parish for their pastoral support. In keeping Earl’s wishes there will be no visitation. Cremation has taken place. There will be a graveside service with Father Andrew Boyd officiating at a later date. No flowers by request of family. Arrangements are under the direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury.
