ELLIS, Jean Eileen- Age 72, Aberdeen, Inverness Co., passed away suddenly but peacefully with her family by her side on Friday, February 19, 2016, in the Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck. Born in Middle River, Victoria Co., she was a daughter of the late Malcolm R. and Mary Catherine (Nicholson) MacRae. Jean was known for her baking and well as her fudge and pies. If anyone was sick, Jean was one of the first one’s there to help out. If someone was looking for a drive to an appointment or shopping, Jean was the taxi. She was an avid Toronto Maple Leafs and Toronto Blue Jays fan. Surviving are her husband, Gordon, Aberdeen; daughters, Darlene Ellis (Quentin), Whycocomagh; Valerie (Billy) Bonaparte, River Denys; Heather (Lee) MacInnis, Hazeldale; son, Perry (Katie), Calgary; sisters, Florence Fitzgerald, Middle River; Rhoda (Jackie) Parsons, Middle River; Mildred (Robert) MacLellan, Big Baddeck; Evelyn (Harry) Etheridge, Baddeck; brothers, Alex (Jessie) MacRae; Malcolm (Gail) MacRae, both of Middle River; grandchildren, Shauna, Morgan and Connor; great-grandchildren; Paige, Challis and Takeisha; brother-in-law, Charlie (Sandra), Little Narrows; sisters-in-law, Millie Fraser, Aberdeen; Marlene (Willard) Fraser, Middle River; as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her infant son, Donald Gordon; brothers, Donald, Neil, Eddie and Roddie MacRae; sister, Mary MacRae; brothers-in-law, John Malcolm and Raymond Ellis; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth "Betty" MacKay and Ann MacKinnon. Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. Sunday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh. Funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Monday from St. Columba Roman Catholic Church, Iona with Father Paul Abbass officiating. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery, MacKinnon’s Harbour.
