EVANS, Kenneth Reginald - 82, Dundee, Richmond Co., died Thursday, May 19, 2005, in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish. Born in Toronto, he was a son of the late Ernest and Fannie (Beamish) Evans. Ken graduated from the University of Toronto in 1946 with a degree in chemical engineering. He commenced employment with B.A. Oil Company, which later became Gulf Oil Canada. He was the first manager of the Gulf Oil Refinery, Point Tupper, retiring in 1983 from Gulf Oil Canada, Head Office, Toronto. He was a member of Black River United Church and a former member of St. Mark's United Church, Port Hawkesbury. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, the former Jean Swackhamer; daughter, Pat (John B.) MacDonald, Port Hastings; sons, Larry (Loucille), Port Hawkesbury; Dr. Brian (Laurianne), Nepean, Ont.; Doug (Helen), Oakville, Ont.; sisters, Edna Berry, Oakville, Ont.; Mickey Wilkins, Toronto, Ont.; brothers, John (Winnie), Mississauga, Ont.; Les (Phyllis), Buckhorn, Ont.; grandchildren, Jocelyn, Jessica, Jillian, Luke, Chad, John Michael, Kyle, Heather, Amanda, Tyler, Tami and Nicholas; great-grandchildren, Emma, Sophia and Max. He was predeceased by brother, Leonard. There will be no visitation. Funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, May 29, in St. Mark's United Church, Port Hawkesbury, Rev. Wilfred Pelley officiating, assisted by Rev. Marian Conrad. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Memorial donations in memory of Ken may be made to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia, Canadian Diabetes Association or a charity of your choice.
