Obituary
Please share a memory of Allan to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of Allan Alexander Rouse on Saturday, June 11, 2022. Allan was born in Inverness on August 7, 1964 to the late Allan and Shirley (Nock) Rouse of River Denys.
Allan was devoted to his wife Allison and children; Avery and Reid and they were always his priority. Allan was known by many names, some of which were Daddo, Popstar, Buddy, Hubs, Alibaba babs and so many more. Allan was a friend to so many. There was nothing Allan wouldn’t do for his family and friends. In many cases, Allan was the first call if something needed to be done or someone needed help. He always answered on the first ring because his phone was never far! He was fiercely loyal to his family and friends (and had a special place in his heart for his dog Chase and his cats). If possible, his heart was bigger then him.
Allan loved going on family vacations, Sunday drives, trips to Tim’s – most mornings being first in line! He loved Christmas, Mother’s Day were his favorite holidays because it gave him extra special occasions to honor his family. Known for his colorful expressions and his sheer honesty, Allan was a loving, kind and generous man who didn’t need much for himself.
Allan worked almost 40 years with the Department of Transportation and Infrastructure. Along the way he made numerous long-time friends across Cape Breton and beyond.
Allan is survived by his loving wife; Allison, daughter; Avery and son; Reid. Also survived by son Matthew Fitzgerald (Amy) and granddaughter; Sophia, siblings; Willie (Joan) Rouse, Kathleen (Brian) Richardson, Leslie (Tammy) Rouse, Richard (Margie) Rouse, Jennifer (Richard) LeDue, mother-in-law; Rachel MacKinnon and numerous nieces and nephews. Allan was predeceased by his parents; Allie and Shirley Rouse and Grandmother in law; Nellie MacKinnon.
The family would like to thank the Home Care nurses (Paula, Meaghan and Rachel), the Home Care Support team (Arlene, Laurie and Jolie) Lori-Ann Gillis, Lyndsey Drozdowski, Dr. Ritter, Dr. MacCormick, the staff at the Inverness Consolidated Memorial Hospital and his mother-in-law Rachel MacKinnon.
