GERRIOR, Mary Catherine – Age 97, Johnstown, Richmond Co. It is with broken hearts we announce the passing of Mary Catherine Gerrior (Campbell). Mary Catherine died peacefully in the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home on Monday, December 2, 2019. She was the daughter of the late Neil and Katie Campbell. Mary Catherine was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Gerrior; son, George Gerrior; daughters, Patricia (Vincent) McNamara and Jean (Blair) McNamara; foster son, Henry Mitchell; brothers, Joseph, Daniel and Roddie Campbell. Mary Catherine is survived by her son, Neil Gerrior; daughters, Annie (Pius) White, Mary Josephine (Terry) McNamara; daughters-in-law, Mary Anita Gerrior and Barb Mitchell; grandchildren, Joey, Michael, Cathy, Eleanor, Shannon, Sheldon, Shane, Tyson, Bradley, Chad, Travis, Yvette, Greg and Andrea; 23 great-grandchildren; 3 great great-grandchildren; dear friends, Theresa and Eleanor MacNeil as well as many nieces and nephews. Mary Catherine was very devoted to her Catholic faith. Not a day would go by without her sitting in her rocking chair saying the rosary and praying for anyone who needed a special blessing. She was proud of her Scottish heritage and her Gaelic language, which she spoke and sang. Mary Catherine enjoyed participating in the annual Johnstown Milling Frolic. We would like to thank the staff of the Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home along with Dr. Collins for the care she received, especially the compassion they showed in her final days. We would like to give special thanks to Dr. Paul Pluta for his kindness and care over the years. Visitation will be from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, December 8 in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, 26 Centennial St. St. Peter’s. Funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Monday from Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church, Johnstown with Father John Yake officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Memorial donations may be made to Our Lady of Guadalupe Shrine or a charity of one’s choice.
