HEIGHTON, Mary Elizabeth - Age 92, Guysborough, passed away in the Guysborough Memorial Hospital on Sunday, March 24, 2019. She was the daughter of the late William and Winnifred Jamieson of Queensport. Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by her husband, Irving (1979); their daughter, Marilyn Richardson (1993); son, Victor (2018). Mary is survived by son, Gerry (Evelyne) Jamieson of Guysborough; daughter, Carol (Al) Leonard of Peterborough, Ontario; her grandchildren, Kim Richardson-Hall, Cheryl Richardson, Alanna, Jennifer and Geoffrey Jamieson, Amanda Russon, Larry and Kyle Heighton as well as nine great-grandchildren. She was a woman of many talents including quilting, knitting, and needlepoint and crocheting to name a few. She was a great fan of video games and especially enjoyed Tetris. Mary had a good sense of humor and was a very determined and feisty-spirited woman who will be missed by friends and family. She received wonderful care from the Continuing Care nurses; this enabled her to live independently for her 92 years, which was so important to her. She also received wonderful care from Dr. Bell and Dr. Ranjini as well as all the nursing staff at Guysborough Memorial Hospital. The family is truly grateful for the support she received from all of these health care providers. Visitation will be held Friday, March 29th from 2 to 7 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Guysborough. Funeral mass will be held from St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Guysborough on Saturday March 30th at 11:00 a.m. with Father Callistus Abazie officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery.
