Obituary
Please share a memory of Mary to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
GROVER, Mary "Daisy" Elizabeth – Age 81, Upper White Head, Guysborough Co. passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 23, 2018, with her loving family by her side. Born in Canso on January 7, 1937, to the late Margaret Alma (Mason) and Cecil Joseph Parker.
She was a wonderful mother to seven children. While living in Milton, Ontario from 1963 to 1967, she worked a couple of years at E.C. Drury School for the Deaf. After returning to Whitehead in 1967, she went to work at the Canso fish plant for a number of years. Daisy loved going to bingo’s and card plays. She rarely missed any until Alzheimer’s made it too difficult to continue. She was a member of the White Head Dart League and the Royal Canadian Legion Dart League in Canso. She loved to play and was a pretty fine shot! In her younger years she loved to go dancing with her husband. They both loved bluegrass and country music and travelled the province every weekend to attend festivals until he passed in 2012. She was a volunteer for the White Head Fire Dept Auxiliary and a choir member in St. Joseph’s Parish, Port Felix and Star of the Sea Parish, Canso. She loved to give of her time whether it was baking for a function or benefit or just helping when needed. She was a quiet lady only too willing to give.
Daisy was predeceased by her loving husband, Doug; a child in infancy; daughter, Janice; son, Cecil; grandson, Myles; parents, Maggie and Cecil; brothers, Charlie and Cecil; sisters-in-law, Anne, O’Dessa, Joanne and Rosie; brothers-in-law, Horace and Clarence.
She will be sadly missed by so many. She is survived by her children, Juanita (Mike) Dort; Donna (Blair) Horne; Arlene (Dave) Bannister; Dougie Grover; Coleen (Darren) Wright; son-in-law, Rob (Marlaine) Myatt; grandchildren, Rachael, Erin, Michael, Lisa, Jamie, Mary, Blaise, Kyle, Rob, Jonathan, Jessica, Courtney, Daniel, Mary Ann, Jason; nine great-grandchildren; sisters, Theresa MacPhee; Brenda Bond; Coleen (Tom) Bouchie; Gertie (Roger) Grant; Marilyn (Eddie) Rossong; Rita (Neil) Collins; brothers, Tom (Doris) Parker; Bill (Pauline) Parker; Steve (Christena) Parker; Dave Parker; Johnny (Marg) Parker; Nelson Parker; survived by her only aunt, Gertie Snow; many nieces and nephews. Special mention of a step-niece who made her smile whenever she saw her, her bingo buddy, Heidi Bouchie.
