Obituary
Please share a memory of Mildred to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
FOX, Mildred Lorine - 96, Port Hastings, originally of Pleasant Bay, Inverness Co. It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mildred on Friday, July 21, 2006, in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston.
Her recipe for health and happiness was her laughter and generous spirit. She was a homemaker and in her earlier years, enjoyed taking care of boarders. Mildred and Leroy owned and operated Fox's Dinette, and she later worked as a cook at the Port Hawkesbury Bowling Alley, Port Hawkesbury Motel and the Goshen Restaurant, Lower South River. She was an avid knitter and made many afghans for her friends and family. Mildred was well-known for her delicious pies and pastries, famous for her oatcakes, and always had an open ear for everyone's problems. "Where a cup of tea was a guarantee" was the motto Mildred's friends could expect. She thoroughly enjoyed her hobby of scrapbooking.
Surviving are aunt, Abbie Hinkley, Sydney; several nieces, nephews, and her circle of friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Leroy.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday in St. David's United Church, Port Hastings, Rev. Wilfred Pelley officiating. Burial in St. David's Cemetery. Donations in memory of Mildred may be made to St. David's United Church. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at: www.haverstocks.com
