Griffith, Daniel Bernard "Danny" - age 65 years of Grande -Digue, NB formerly of Port Hawkesbury. It is with deep sadness that we announce the very sudden passing of Daniel Griffith on Saturday, February 17, 2018. Danny is survived by his loving wife, Donna (Sutcliffe); devoted sons, Aaron (Stacey Pheifer), Halifax; Travis, Montreal; Jesse, Walton; and Shamus Andrew, Sackville, NB; his mother, Marie Rita (Kenny), Port Hawkesbury; brothers, Gordie (Helen Ann), Judique; Reg (Ann) , Dartmouth; and sister, Dawn (Randal) Power, Port Hawkesbury; he also leaves behind 19 nieces and nephews. Danny was predeceased by his father, Gordon Jackson Griffith "Griff", "Peppy" and brother-in-law, Rodney "Rod" Sutcliffe. Danny will be missed by all who knew him. Always a "Rock" to family, friends and co-workers. He made his family and friends a priority by spending many happy hours playing cards, and listening to good music into the wee hours. Danny loved to drive through the Maritimes especially to visit his extended family and his 95 year old Mother in Port Hawkesbury. He retired from Springwall as a Shipper/ Receiver for over 30 years. Danny was an "animal whisperer". Dogs Buddy and Mindy will miss their long walks and treats with him. He was an avid sports hound (Chicago Blackhawks, S.F. Giants), loved to read and keep up on current events. He always made time to talk cars, family details, and know what or how you were doing- i.e. a good listener. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, February 21 from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral mass will be 10 a.m. Thursday, February 22 in St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury with Father Conrad Edwards officiating. Burial to follow in St. Joseph Parish Cemetery, Port Hawkesbury. Following the burial a reception will be held in St. Joseph Church Hall, Port Hawkesbury. Furthermore a Memorial reception will be held on Monday, Feb 26, from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Notre Centre, 468 Route 530, Grande-Digue, NB. Memorial donations may be made in memory of Danny to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia or a charity of one’s choice.
