GOOGOO, Sheldon Joseph Jr. "Sheldonjij" Age 23, We’koqma’q First Nation. It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Sheldon on Sunday, June 10, 2018, in Victoria County Memorial Hospital, Baddeck. Born in Baddeck, he is survived by his mother, Denise Googoo; stepfather, Stanford Phillips; girlfriend, Kendyl Sylliboy and his pride and joy, his son, Karter Joseph William Sylliboy; sister, Selena Googoo; brothers, Shaquille (Shaq) and Stanley; step brothers, Jakob Phillips, Konrad Phillips; step sister, Kylee Phillips, all of We’koqma’q; maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Patles (Winston); step grandfather, Ben Toney; godparents, Stewart Peters and Bernice Googoo; 2 special godsons, Braylen Googoo and Keaton Reace Sylliboy; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. He was predeceased by his father, Sheldon Joseph Googoo Sr.; paternal grandparents, Stanley Googoo and Annie Jane Toney; maternal grandfather, John Googoo. Sheldon was a member of St. Kateri Parish, We’koqma’q. Sheldon worked as a carpenter and graduated from Carpentry Program at the NSCC Strait Area Campus, Port Hawkesbury. He was employed with Winmar and worked on the construction of the new fire hall, the one stop and numerous homes. He was a member of The United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners Union of America. He also worked at the Waycobah Fish Hatchery. Sheldonjij spiritual travels led him to Ste. Anne de Beaupre and the Cursillio Movement. He was planning to start a ball team The We’koqma’q Big Shots and was going to be the rookie coach. He was an avid Montreal Canadiens fan. He was a goaltender for the Whycocomagh Oilers, was a poker hustler, cribbage player, x-box gamer ‘Sheldor’, professional driving range player and he rapped in his teenage years with his bros with his rapper name "Cape Bulle" and he loved to travel and meet new people. Visitation will be after 3 p.m. on Saturday in the family residence, 9127 Hwy 105, We’koqma’q. Funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Monday from Blessed Kateri Parish, We’koqma’q with Father Conrad Edwards officiating. Burial at a later date. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Chapel, Whycocomagh.
