It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Mary Verna Grant on Saturday, April 8, 2017 in Eastern Memorial Hospital, Canso.
Verna was a daughter of the late Levi and Gertie (Keefe) Haines spent her 85 years residing happily in Little Dover.
Verna is survived by her son, Roger Grant (Gertie); sister, Marie Bouchie; grandsons, Doug MacKenzie (Marlene), Warren MacKenzie, Roger Grant (Alesha) and Darrell Grant; granddaughters, Kerry Richardson (Dennis), Clarice Grant (Greg) and Jennifer Grant (Brian); granddaughter-in-law, Ann Marie Grant and, her pride and joy, her great-grandchildren, Rayden, Ashton, Mackenzie, Janna, Morgan, William, Layne, Grant, Sam, Anna, Kyler and Olivia along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
She was predeceased by her loving husband, Doug Grant; her daughter, Carol Ann MacKenzie; son-in-law, Steve MacKenzie; grandson, Gordon Grant; brother, Gerald Haines and sister, Jean Horne.
There will be no visitation as per Verna's request. Funeral mass will held on Monday, April 17 at 11a.m. in St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Little Dover with Father Dan MacDonald officiating. There will be a reception to follow for family and friends at the parish hall.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Eastern Memorial Hospital, Canso or a charity of your choosing.
