GOOGOO, John Stephen "Dynamite" - 54, Waycobah, First Nation, died Wednesday, April 25, 2007, in Waycobah. Born in Baddeck, he was a son of Irene E. (Pierro) Googoo, Waycobah, and the late Peter John Googoo. He was a member of Holy Trinity Parish, Waycobah. For the last four years John was an employee of the We'koqma’q Fisheries. His job description included food fishery worker. John was proud and dedicated to Fish for the Elders in the We'koqma’q community. John had a vast knowledge for making spears, which he used to supply our elders with eels, cod, trout and salmon. He also had a great pride for building small wooden boats for fishing, and shared his knowledge with his co-workers. During the hunting season he provided us with moose, rabbits, partridges and other wild game. He was a renowned outdoorsman and craftsman. His great talent and gift for the outdoors will be missed by those who knew him. John will be remembered with each new season. His best qualities included his great sense of humour that he shared with all the staff. This, along with his knowledge, talents, and generosity will be sadly missed within the community. He is survived by his companion, Bernadett Young, Waycobah; daughters, Denise Googoo, Shawna Margaret Bernard, both of Waycobah; sons, Peter John "P.J."
