GOOGOO, Allister Gerard "Sonny" 50, We’koqma’q First Nation, died Saturday, December 30, 2006, in Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney. Born in Inverness, he was a son of the late Michael J. and Emily (Googoo) Googoo.
Sonny was a labourer, a member of Holy Trinity Parish, Waycobah, an excellent mechanic and fisherman, an avid card player, and was very good with children. Surviving are his companion, Gwen Poulette, Eskasoni; daughters, Meliza (Jamie), April (John), both of Membertou; sons, John (Bernadette), Victor (Evelyn), both of Waycobah; Michael (Janice), Pictou Landing; sisters, Dolena (John Joseph), Connie Peck, Joanie (Dave) Christie, Sylvia, all of Waycobah; Judy Lewis, Alberta; brothers, Frank (Jean), Wagmatcook; Angus (Marge), Pictou Landing; Kenneth (Angela), Waycobah; Billy (Starlene), Paqtn’keq; 15 grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by son, Milton in infancy; brother, Earl, and brother, John in infancy.
Visitation will be held after 6 p.m. this evening at the family residence, 48 Subdivision Rd., Waycobah. Funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Saturday in Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church, Father Bernie MacDonald officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery.
