Rossong, Robert Bernard "Bob" - Age 71 of Yellow Marsh, Guysborough Co. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Robert Bernard "Bob" Rossong at the age of 71 surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, November 13, 2018, in Eastern Memorial Hospital, Canso. Bob was born on August 7, 1947 in Canso; a son of the late John and Blanche (Casey) Rossong. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Jean (Fanning) Rossong; son, Robert (Amber) Rossong; daughter, Bonita (Keith) Meade; step-son, Nicky (Tammy) Fanning; brother, Francis (Mary) Rossong; sisters, Kaye (Ralph) MacPherson and Theresa Dewar; sister-in-laws, Lorraine (Fred) Rossong, and Olive (Hughie) Rossong; grandchildren, Jeffery Meade, Chelsea Chalmers, Bruce Meade, Kayla Meade, Maya Rossong, Dara Rossong, Jonathon Fanning, and Jordan Fanning; great-granddaughter, Lilliana Rose Meade. Besides his parents, Bob was predeceased by his brothers, Hughie, Fred, Junior, and James Rossong; sisters, Sophie Gotchell and Mary MacIsaac. Bob had lots of friends and too many to mention but his closest friends were, Aub Bouchie, Bill Fanning, Everette Bouchie and Lloyd Keefe. If only the walls could talk from all the stories they have told from hunting on Keppoch Mountain to being in the woods cutting wood. Bob loved to play baseball in his younger years. He worked at the NSLC for 25 years retiring at the age of 54. Bob loved the outdoors. He certainly loved hunting and fishing. Not too many years passed that he did not get his deer. We will cherish our fond memories forever. Cremation has taken place. Visitation will be held from 2-9 p.m. on Friday, November 16 in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Canso. Funeral mass will be 11 a.m. Saturday, November 17 in Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Canso with Father Jonathan Nnajiofor officiating. Burial will follow in Star of the Sea Parish Cemetery, Canso. Memorial donations may be made to Eastern Memorial Hospital Palliative Care.
