MacKEIGAN, Robert "Bob" - It is with a heavy heart that we announce the
passing of Robert "Bob" MacKeigan, age 79 of Port Hawkesbury on Thursday, August 18, 2016, in St. Martha's Regional Hospital, Antigonish.
Born and raised in Sydney River, Bob and his wife Linda, moved their family to Port Hawkesbury in 1971 where he started a Texaco franchise. He continued this passionate dedication to the business sector with a used car dealership, followed by a Toyota and Ford dealership. One of his greatest attributes was his passion for construction. He enjoyed winters in Florida with his partner Fran Payne. He enjoyed sledding in the highlands and boating on the Mira River as well as the Bras d'Or lakes, when all his work was done.
He is survived by his sons, Larry (Sherrille), Glen (Susan) and daughter, Wanda (Gillis); sister, Eunice Murray (Doug), Ottawa; his grandchildren included, Natalie, Laura, Cody, Mark, Katelyn; great-grandchildren, Ewan, Quinn, Meauve, Seamus, Cormac, and Emmett. He is predeceased by his great-granddaughter, Ella Grace; sister, Margaret; brother, John Warren.
Visitation will be in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury, Saturday, August 20, from 2-4, 7-9 p.m. Funeral service will be held from St Mark's United Church, Port Hawkesbury on Sunday, August 21, at 11:00 a.m. with Nan Corrigan officiating. Interment at a later date. Family flowers only, in lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Strait Richmond Hospital. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at www.haverstocks.com
