MacGILLIVRAY, Mary Isabel "Mabel"- Age 61, Glendale, Inverness Co. It is with heavy hearts we announce the death of Mabel MacGillivray, who passed away on Thursday, February 11, 2016, in the Palliative Care Unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, Sydney, with loved ones by her side after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Inverness on March 4, 1954, she was a daughter of Carmeline (Bates) MacDonald and the late Duncan MacDonald of Melford, Inverness Co. She leaves to mourn her loss her loving husband of 43 years, Francis MacGillivray, Glendale; sons, Bradley (Robyn), Spruce Grove, AB; Clarke, Edmonton AB; Andy (Brenda), Scott (Jamie Lee), all of Fort McMurray AB; daughter, Ashlee (Shawn Theriault), Fort McMurray AB; grandchildren, Owen, Colbie, Ryan, Haley, Jacob, Sophia, Luc, Max, Blake and Hannah Mae, all were her pride and joy. She also leaves to mourn her mother, Carmeline; sisters, Trish (Bernie) MacDonald, Ellen (Kevin) Goswell; brother, John Blaise; and many other relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her father, Duncan; infant brother, Edward; grandson, Patrick; sister, Tena Nock. She was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and friend to many. She was her happiest when having family and friends around for a good cup of tea and delicious food. Also while tending her flower gardens, which were so beautiful. She was a devout member of St. Mary of the Angels Parish in Glendale and a woman of great faith. She was also a member of St. Mary’s CWL and the Glendale Area Community Co-op and the Glendale Area Gaelic Historical Society. She was also a good volunteer for any function, along with organizing the bi-weekly ceilidh’s in the Father John Angus Cultural Centre for many years with the help of other members. She was loved by all and will be greatly missed. Visitation will be from 2-9 p.m. on Sunday in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral mass will be 2 p.m. Monday from St. Mary of the Angels Roman Catholic Church, Glendale with Father Allan MacPhie officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery at a later date. Family flowers only please. Memorial donations may be made to Cape Breton Cancer Care or to St Mary’s Parish Cemetery Fund.
