LANGLEY, David Russell - 89, Port Hawkesbury, passed away Wednesday, December 7, 2011, in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston, with his family by his side. Born in Port Hawkesbury, he was a son of the late Arthur John Sr. and Alexandra Mary Jane (Jameson) Langley.
In his younger years he worked for his father and alongside his brothers at the former Port Hawkesbury Marine Railway, Point Tupper. David was later the owner and operator of the B/A and Gulf Service Station, Port Hawkesbury. He was a 66 year member of Solomon Lodge #46, Port Hawkebury. He was a member of St. Mark’s United Church, Port Hawkesbury.
Surviving are his loving wife of 66 years, Marion (Embree); daughter, Elizabeth Langley (William Brimley), Bedford; son, Russell (Carolyn), Port Hawkesbury; grandchildren, Stacey Langley, Halifax; Craig Brimley (Stephanie Hui), New York City; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. He was predeceased by brothers, Arthur Jr., Ellis, Harry and Martin, sisters, Hazel, Mona and Susan.
Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Sunday, in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Monday in Southbrook Cemetery, with Nan Corrigan officiating. Family flowers only Please. Memorial donations may be made to the Strait Richmond Palliative Care Society, St. Mark’s United Church, or to a charity of one’s choice.
