McKeough, Rita Matilda "Tillie" - 89, Grosvenor, Guys. Co; passed away Thursday, March 3, 2011 in Milford Haven Home for Special Care, Guysborough. Tillie was born in Grosvenor, Guys. Co., she a daughter of the late Archie and Mary (McKeough) McKeough. Tillie lived in Sydney for fifty years, where she was employed at St. Rita’s Hospital. She was the recipient of the Queen’s Silver Medal for her many years of dedicated service.
She is survived by her sisters, Mary I. McKeough, R.K. MacDonald Nursing Home, Antigonish; Theresa (Walter) Mattie, Mattie Settlement and many nieces and nephews.She was predeceased by her sisters, Vieta Burns, Stella McKeough, Grace Cameron and Irene MacGillivray and her brothers, Joseph and Archibald. The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at Milford Haven Home for Special Care for their care and compassion over the past two years. Also thank you to Drs. Ranjini and Foley. Visitation will take place on Sunday, from 2- 4 p.m. and 7- 9 p.m. in Mulgrave and Area Resting Place. Funeral mass will be held 11 a.m. Monday in St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, Mulgrave, with Father Allan MacPhie officiating. Burial in the parish cemetery at a later date.
Donations may be made in Tillie’s memory to St. Lawrence Parish, Mulgrave or Antigonish SPCA. Funeral arrangements are under the care and direction of Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Words of comfort may be forwarded to the family at: www.haverstocks.com
