MEAGHER, Thomas Bernard "Tommy" — 66, Whiteside, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Friday, April 9, 2010, in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston.
Tommy was a cherished and beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and a true friend. Born in Liverpool on November 21, 1943, Tommy was the eldest son of the late Bernard Patrick and Mary Elizabeth "Maisie" (MacDonald) Meagher.
Left to mourn are his devoted wife, Barbara Claire (White); loving children, Janet (Jean-Paul), Daniel (Diane), Stephanie, Ruthie (Darren), Chrissie, and cherished grandchildren, Laura, Angela, Shannon, Ryan, Kristen and Bradley, Tommy, Brooklyn, and Danny. Tommy will also be sadly missed by brother, Frank Meagher; sisters, Jeanette Fram (Wayne), Mary McInnis (Ron), Colleen Hourigan (Terrence).
Tommy retired from a fulfilling career with the Nova Scotia Department of Environment. Tommy was blessed to have only suffered a very brief struggle with an unexpected serious illness. Tommy's family asks all who knew him to think of him fondly and remember him with a smile.
Visitation will be from 2-4, and 7-9 p.m. Monday, April 12, in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in St. Francis de Sales Roman Catholic Church, Lower River Inhabitants, Father Barrett Clare-Johnson officiating. Cremation to follow. Burial will take place at a later date in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Whiteside. Memorial donations in memory of Tommy may be made to Strait Richmond Palliative Care Society or a charity of your choice.
