HOGAN, John V. Jr. - 84, Port Hawkesbury, died June 26, 2005, in Strait Richmond Hospital, Evanston. Born May 18, 1921, in Iroquois Falls, northeastern Ontario, he was the son of the late John V. Sr. (London, England) and Ethel Mae (Vermillion) (Kenton, Ohio). John spent his childhood in Liverpool, and then worked at paper mills throughout eastern Canada, concluding at Stora Enso, Port Hawkesbury. He was an avid outdoorsman and a veteran of the Second World War having served in the Canadian Army, Royal Canadian Ordinance Corps (1942-46) serving in England, France, Belgium and Germany. He was also a lifetime member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 43, Port Hawkesbury. He is survived by his sons, Dr. Daniel (Lori), Shreveport, La.; Dr. David (Janet), Calgary, Alta., and six grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Georgette, in May 2004, and his half-brother, Robert Uline. Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. today with a Legion service at 7 p.m., both in Dennis Haverstock Funeral Home, Port Hawkesbury. Funeral mass will be held 2 p.m. Thursday in St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Port Hawkesbury with Father Bill Crispo officiating.
