MEAGHER, Lillian Maude - 90, Aulds Cove, died Saturday, February 5, 2005, in Port Hawkesbury Nursing Home. Born in Steep Creek on March 12, 1914, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Effie (Critchett) Carter. She was a member of St. Lawrence Parish, Mulgrave and St. Lawrence Altar Society. She was also a secretary of the Home and School Association in Steep Creek and Melford for several years. Lillian was an avid knitter, wonderful mother and had a great love for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She spent many years caring for her grandchildren. Surviving are daughter, Barbara (Bernie) MacAskill, Aulds Cove, with whom she had resided for many years; son, Basil Meagher, Mulgrave; daughter-in-law, Anne Marie Meagher, Aulds Cove; foster son, Wilfred (Donna) Carter, Whitehorse, N.W.T.; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence 'Larry'; son, Earl; daughter-in-law, Margie Meagher; sister, Gertrude Carter; brothers, Bernard, Gordon and Earl; granddaughter, Natalie Meagher and great-grandson, Justin MacAskill. Visitation will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today in Mulgrave and Area Resting Place. Funeral mass will be held 2 p.m. Tuesday in St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, Mulgrave, Father Peter McLeod officiating. Burial in the family lot in St. Lawrence Cemetery.
